April 2010
Two new books have recently gone to press. Actually they are twins - The Cumbria Coast and The Lancashire Coast jointly explore England’s North West coastal landscape and development from the Solway Firth on the Scottish Border to the Ribble Estuary at Lytham St Annes. The journey that they illustrate is not at all meant as a “postcard” look at these fascinating and historic places but rather a more realistic exploration of what these coastlines have to offer. They should be published later this summer by Halsgrove and I hope they will find an audience who are looking for more than a pretty souvenir picture book!
Also due to be published in July, just ahead of this years event, is “Cowes Week - the Isle of Wight Sailing Regatta” which I shot at last years event.
Other news - I shall be running a series of photography workshops at this years Keswick Mountain Festival - full details are available at the festival website - www.keswickmountainfestival.co.uk and I’m also running whole series of outdoor “photography on the fells” workshops throughout the summer as part of the Friends of The Lake District’s Flora of the Fells event - details at www.floraofthefells.com/whats-on/whats-on/eventlist

August 2009
Halsgrove have commissioned me to shoot a documentary-style book showcasing the Isle of Wight’s World famous Cowes Week sailing regatta. Taking place during the first week of August, the book will document the event from the visitors perspective with plenty of sailing action, on-shore and off-shore drama and some inspirational landscape and seascape photography.
July 2009
Book signing at Waterstones, Kendal. Saturday 11th July 11am.
I shall be available to sign copies of my new book, “Cumbria” at Waterstones book store in Kendal’s Westmorland Centre from 11am onwards (for about an hour unless I’m swamped in J.K.Rowling style - unlikely).
Evening slide show, talk and book signing at Bluebells Book Store, Penrith. Thursday, 2nd July at 7.30.
I’ll be giving a short slide show and talking about my new book, “Cumbria” at Bluebells Book Shop, in Penrith on the evening of the 2nd from about 7.30pm onwards and I’ll be happy to field questions and explain the unexplainable to anyone who cares to join me. See you there.

June 2009
Book: New Cumbria photo-book to be published June 23rd, 2009.
Dave Willis will be publishing his new book, entitled simply “Cumbria” in the summer of 2009. The coffee-table format photo-book explores the county of Cumbria from corner to corner and is intended as a county book, in place of the more usual Lake District photo-books on offer from most photographers venturing into Cumbria. Although the Lake District forms a central chapter of the book, other regions such as the Eden Valley, the Borders and West Cumbria are well covered and few photographers are better placed to do it - Dave Willis has been photographing all aspects of the county for Cumbria Tourism for many years now and has left very few stones unturned in his quest to seek out the very best the county has to offer. “Cumbria” will published by Halsgrove probably on June 23rd - with book signings to follow.
