Shooting Celebs

Watching the Commedians

d148-0553

Ed Byrne is a comedian. You know what they say about comedy - it's a serious business. So is photographing them. TGO magazine have recruited Ed to write a column, presumably with a certain amount of wit, flair and wry comment. His first outing involves reporting back on the black art of mountain navigation, which explains why he found himself on Penistone Hill, deep in Bronte country above Howarth. Also present was John Rogers from Addventure Ltd, Ed's instructor for the day. I imagined that our celeb would be right up for all sorts of larks and wacky stuff and so came prepared. I produced an old OS map, with the middle torn out, through which I imaged EB would be more than happy to stick his head and gurn at the camera - whacky indeed. "Don't be daft" he retorted and put me firmly in my place. He might be funny on stage but having his picture taken called for a little more dignity it would seem. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Photographers are probably pulling all sorts of lame ideas on the guy all the time. We settled for something a bit more grown up. TGO will reveal the full story in a future edition shortly - I can't wait to read what he made of it all.
